Mitsubishi is calling back certain Outlander Sport models over issues with the ECU.
In the affected vehicles, the ECU is sensitive to low temperatures, which causes it to fail. If this happens, the vehicle will not start, and the driver may not be able to unlock the doors. Once the module is warmed up again however, all the functions return.
The exact number of vehicles affected is still unknown, as Mitsubishi is currently identifying them by VIN. Certain vehicles built between December 26, 2011 and February 28, 2013 are involved.
To fix the problem, dealers will replace the entire module free of charge. Mitsubishi is reminding owners to bring along their F.A.S.T keys for programming so that they can work with the new ECU.
