Mitsubishi is taking its commitment to electrified cars to the next level at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, with plans to reveal both an electric commuter car and a hybrid pickup truck.

The most surprising of the two, the Concept GT-HEV is what Mitsubishi calls a Sport Utility Hybrid Truck and expands upon the brand’s upcoming Outlander Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in a one-ton pickup. Looking like a Honda Ridgeline or Chevy Avalanche based on the lone teaser image, the GR-HEV uses the brand’s Super All Wheel Control (S-AWC) AWD system to put power from a diesel-hybrid powertrain to the ground. Mitsubishi says it chose a conventional hybrid setup for the truck as it, “is deemed best suited to the heavy-duty daily requirements of pickup truck users.”

Switching gears is the Concept CA-MiEV, or what Mitsu calls a Suburban EV, taking the brand’s electric cit car to a new level, in a new package, and offering 300 km of range. The car will feature next gen batteries and a new EV system, as well as lightweight component and “advanced aerodynamics.” A step beyond the basic i model, it will feature smartphone activated functions, wireless charging and will be, “perfectly suited for suburban and country daily life” said the automaker in a release.

Taking the stage with the new Outlander PHEV in Geneva, these two new vehicles are a sign that Mitsubishi is staying true to its goal of hitting a 20 percent electrically powered sales target by 2020.
