The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is bidding farewell to the world with a special Final Edition model.

Limited to 1,600 units for the U.S. market, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition is based off the current GSR model with numerous enhancements and increases to horsepower and torque. Priced from $38,805 including destination, the Final Edition will produce 303 horsepower and 305 pound-feet of torque from the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is mated to a five-speed manual transmission. That’s a slight bump in performance compared to the standard Evolution GSR’s 291 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque.

Further enhancing performance are lightweight two-piece Brembo brake rotors up front, Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs on all four corners. Minor exterior upgrades include a Final Edition badge in the rear, black painted aluminum roof, dark chrome Enkei wheels, gloss black center bumper and hood air outlet and a dark chrome front grille surround. The Evolution Final Edition will be available in four shades: new Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Gray and Octane Blue.

On the inside, Mitsubishi has outfitted the sports sedan with a numbered plaque on the center console, a black headliner, pillars, sun visors and assist handles and red accent stitching on the seats, steering wheel, shift knob, console lid, floormats and e-brake handle.

“With its incredible combination of power, agility and Super All-Wheel Control, the Lancer Evolution is one of the most well-known sports sedans and is revered by ‘gearheads’ around the globe,” said MMNA executive vice president, Don Swearingen. “The Final Edition model pays homage to Evo’s remarkable place in automotive history and takes it one step further as the most powerful mass-production Lancer Evolution ever built.”
