Boasting a new exterior design, the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage GT has been unveiled at the 2015 L.A. Auto Show.
The updated Mitsubishi Mirage GT will be available at dealerships starting spring 2016, offering the same impressive fuel economy and attractive pricing the model has become known for. Headlined by a fresh new look, the Japanese automaker gave the Mirage GT a redesigned hood, grille, front and rear bumpers, fog and head lights, rear spoiler and wheels. The exterior changes weren’t just to make the Mirage sportier and more attractive, Mitsubishi took the opportunity to improve its aerodynamics to maximize fuel efficiency while reducing weight.
Under the hood, the hatch will retain the 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine with 78 horsepower and 74 pound-feet of torque. Fuel economy figures haven’t been announced yet for the new model, but the current model returns up to 37 mpg in the city and 44 mpg on the highway.

Improvements to the model’s handling and brakes were done for 2017 as well, with Mitsubishi optimizing the spring rate and damping force of the shock absorbers while adding stiffness to the front end. Larger diameter brake discs are used in the front measuring almost 10 inches, while the rear drum brakes are almost an inch larger in diameter at eight inches. Further improving stopping performance is new brake pad/shoe material.
On the inside, the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage GT gets updated seat fabrics, gauge cluster, steering wheel and shift panel. Available as options are a new 300-watt Rockford-Fosgate audio system with EcoPunch as well as an in-car display audio supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Expect pricing to be announced closer to the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage GT’s launch in spring 2016.
