Mitsubishi is recalling 141,053 vehicles in the U.S. due to a faulty part that can break.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles have a drive belt tensioner flange that may crack, which could cause the accessory drive belt to detach. If this occurs, the battery would discharge and the engine would stall.

The affected vehicles in the recall campaign include the 2009-2012 Lancer, 2010-2012 Lancer Sportback, 2011-2012 Outlander Sport, and 2008-2012 Outlander. The vehicles are equipped with either the 4B11 or 4B12 four-cylinder engine.

To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the belt tensioner free of charge, and Mitsubishi says the new part should have an improved shape. NHTSA says the recall is expected to begin March 27, 2018.
