Mitsubishi has released more information and photos of its new e-Evolution hybrid crossover concept after teasing it last week.

Mitsubishi says the e-Evolution will feature three “high-torque and high-performance electric motors,” that will be supplied “by a high-capacity battery system to deliver the smooth and powerfully responsive performance.” A single electric motor will reside up front, while each of the rear wheels will get its own motor. The vehicle also features something called ‘Active Yaw Control’, which Mitsubishi’s fancy name for torque vectoring.

The e-Evolution concept will also feature an Artificial Intelligence system. The AI will use sensors to read changes in road and traffic conditions, “seamlessly coordinating driver intent with vehicle performance,” the automaker says. The system will also analyze the driver’s skill level and construct a “training program” for them, providing driving advice and other feedback through the dashboard display.

The AI system will also allow the driver to use voice-control functions to operate the vehicle’s various systems such as the climate control, the wipers, headlights and more. The AI system will also relay vehicle status information to the driver, including malfunction alerts.

Mitsubishi says the e-Evolution “indicates a direction” it may take in the near future. It will make its official debut at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show late this month.
